On the other hand, the media is an information agent which has role to provide education and social change effects (manifest functions). They become the cause for the outbreak of Islamophobia symptoms (latent functions). In the case of Islamophobia, media became the object of analysis because it has the dichotomy function. The phenomenon of Islamophobia can be assessed by two perspectives: sociological and psychological. Islamophobia associated with negative prejudices against Muslims and Islam, and lead to construction of anti-Islam. Therefore, some states are worried and suspicious toward Muslims (Islamophobia) up to the present. P>A stereotype appears and describes that Islam is the cause of a series of terror. The study concluded the adapted religious dangdut koplo songs could be an interesting media in the millennial da’wah. This showed that in the process of adaptation and dissemination, the adolescents played as an adaptation agent, distribution agent, and agent of change. Regarding the distribution patterns of the adapted songs, there were two dominant media utilized, YouTube channels and Taklim assembly which was usually done by santri and non-santri youth. The devotional lyrics were characterized by advice, advocating goodness, encouraging people to stay away from evil, loving the prophet more, and social criticism. This was done so that people remained familiar with the dangdut music they enjoyed with a touch of religion. The research found out the youth adapted the lyrics from dangdut koplo into religious dangdut by changing the lyrics with the same arrangement. In analyzing the data, the researcher used the theory of cultural adaptation, social media, and Roland Barthes’ semiotics. Purposively, this qualitative study relied on some lyrics of dangdut koplo songs adapted by the into more religious ones. The purpose of this study was to describe the role of youth in adapting dangdut koplo songs to songs that have da’wah value, and the the relationship between popular culture and religion in the adapted songs.

None of the trappings - the appearances on Johnny Carson, the adulatory profile in the Times magazine, the featured part in Reds - would matter if Jerzy Kosinski weren’t apparently a writer of talent. This goes for manuscript, middle drafts, final draft, and every fucking galley - first page proofs, second and third, hardcover editions and paper-back editions. In 1977, Ross sent out the entire book to ten publishers, including Random House, which had originally published the book, and thirteen literary agents. In 1975, a freelance writer Chuck Ross, in order to prove his theory that unknown authors always find their books rejected, sent out excerpts from Steps to four different publishers, using the pseudonym Erik Demos. However, I guess with JC's age, the number of fight scenes have been reduced, and somewhat slowed down deliberately. The Myth looks and feels like a classic JC movie in terms of production values, like the familiar fight-with-the-baddies-acrobatic-stunts scenes, and physical humour injected at certain points. And with the Qin dynasty, you're usually reduced to plots which may include the Great Wall, beautiful consorts, or the pill of Immortality. It plays like a young boy's fantasy of snagging that exotic oriental princess, enjoying the support of the troop masses, having utmost loyalty to the king, and blessed with good fighting skills topped with a signature sword. The story, while it might be original for a Jackie Chan movie, seemed a little cliché. It's a recurring dream, and before you can say "Indiana Jones", he's off to locales he sees in his dream world to try and unravel its mystery, while research companion Tony Leung (The Lover) irks him along the way with tomb raiding in the name of scientific studies. As most would already know from the trailer and poster, JC plays Jack Chan (about time they come up with better names too), an archaeologist who dreams about a Korean princess whom he's escorting to the Qin emperor as his new concubine. What's refreshing too is that the role requires the use of a real weapon (a sword in this case), rather than having JC's character improvising with tools from his environment. Tong wrote the story of The Myth, casting Jackie Chan in a never seen before role (yes, audiences are tired with his cop roles already) as a Qin dynasty general. Jackie Chan, after the relatively successful return to HK movie industry with the release of New Police Story, teams up once again with Stanley Tong (Rumble in the Bronx) for starters. This film was pretty hyped up for many reasons.

Though Dire Straits have remained broken up since the ’90s, they have found new admirers in the 21st century with indie artists like The War on Drugs and Mac DeMarco professing their love of the band’s uniquely modernist approach to roots rock. The band would notch one last big hit before falling silent: 1991’s “Calling Elvis,” a brilliantly atmospheric update of Memphis rockabilly. (The image is further enhanced by its music video, a neon-suffused product of early computer animation that’s regarded as one of the most iconic artifacts of early MTV.) Knopfler, low-key and more interested in developing his craft than stardom, began retreating from the spotlight, devoting more time to composing movie scores. Indeed, their biggest hit, “Money for Nothing,” from the 1985 blockbuster Brothers in Arms, sounds like cyborgs playing roadhouse blues rock on synthesizers. This knack for marrying American roots music to contemporary sounds would become Dire Straits’ defining quality as they became stadium rockers in the ’80s. Besides introducing the world to Mark Knopfler’s tangled fingerpicking, the Dylan-esque gem layered earthy blues and country (the Tulsa sound in particular) over a shuffle so lean and tight, fans of New Wave music couldn’t help but embrace it. When Dire Straits released “Sultans of Swing” in 1978, it sounded like little else coming across the airwaves. |
